What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible is the Word of God, that the 66 books of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is the inspired (“God-breathed”), inerrant, infallible Word of God. The Bible has full and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We also believe that the Bible is forever sufficient and applicable to train us for life and godliness in this present age.

  • We believe in one true and living God who is the Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, Ruler who guides all things under His perfect providence. Our one God has revealed Himself in His Word in “Trinity”, meaning God is one in essence and three in person, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God and each person has all the attributes of God.

We believe the Father works in providential power to guide all things for His glory. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all good.

We believe that Jesus Christ, was eternally begotten by God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born to the virgin Mary. Jesus became fully man while maintaining His full divinity. In His humanity, we believe He lived a perfect and sinless life having been tempted in every way as we are and yet be without sin. Jesus Christ as fully God was able to endure the full outpouring of the wrath of God against our sin, declare “It is Finished!”, and then willingly die. He was buried and three days later He rose from the dead as the bold testimony of the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death and our certain hope of salvation. We believe that Jesus subsequently ascended into heaven where He serves perpetually as High Priest and Advocate for His people.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts concerning sin and righteousness and judgment, who regenerates our lives which were dead in our trespasses and sins, who applies the work of Jesus Christ the Son in atonement, who assures us of eternal life, who gifts us for ministry, and who teaches us constantly through the Word of God. We believe His life-giving power is necessary for genuine salvation.

  • We believe God created man and woman in His image. We believe in the literal historicity of Adam and Eve, who were our first parents, who freely and willfully disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and have thus introduced the sin nature into human existence. Consequently, mankind naturally exists in opposition to God, dead in trespasses and sins, storing up wrath for the day of wrath from the eternally just God. Every person is accountable to God for their own sin and must answer to God in the day of judgment.

  • We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace given to all who respond to Jesus with repentance and faith. Repentance is turning from sin and to God. Faith is trusting in the person and work of Christ as the only source of salvation. Sinful human hearts must be regenerated by the Holy Spirit and justified through the propitiatory and atoning work of Jesus on the cross and through the resurrection. By faith in Jesus, we are reconciled to God the Father and clothed in the righteousness of Christ.

We believe that genuine faith in Christ perseveres, that genuine salvation will bear forth the fruit of the Spirit and a life of holiness. Every believer has every reason to look forward with heavenly hope, assured that Jesus who is their Savior has also kept His word in preparing a place for them so that where He is they may be also.

  • We believe that the church is the gathered people of God, an autonomous expression of those who are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The local church is the necessary body of covenanted and baptized believers. We believe that disciples of Jesus are commanded to join and meet together to worship and exalt Christ our King, encouraging one another to love and good works.

We believe the gathering of the church ought to be structured after the New Testament pattern which emphasizes the preaching of Scripture, singing congregational songs of praise and worship, praying with and for one another, fellowshipping together for the sake of encouragement and disciple accountability, and encourage one another in the mission of making Christ known.

We believe there are two offices in the church: pastors and deacons.

  • We believe that the New Testament church is commanded to enduringly practice two ordinances.

We believe in believer’s baptism, that is baptism by immersion and after a person is born again. Baptism is a biblical picture of a life identified with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that the sinner is dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

We believe that God has commanded us to take the Lord’s Supper as a continual memorial meal to encourage remembrance of the death of Christ and the atoning work He has accomplished.

  • We believe that God guides all things to His glory including the timing of the end of all things. Jesus Christ will physically and bodily return and display His reigning authority in a final act. All humanity will kneel before Him as judge where He will condemn all evil and gather His believing people to Himself where we will be with Him forever. We believe that all genuine believers in Christ Jesus will live with Christ in eternity in glorified bodies. We believe that those who do not ever trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity separated from God and endure eternal punishment.

Our beliefs are summarized above, and we are in agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
